Pete Myrick Who was Pete?
As one of the PCEDC's original founders, Pete Myrick was instrumental in promoting a vision of increased economic opportunities to the county he loved so much. He was a dreamer in the classical sense: not letting hard work or apathy get in the way of imaginative efforts to help people; for helping people was one of Pete's major missions in life. As the Director of Adult Education in Maine School Administrative District 4 (Guilford), Pete helped over a thousand people obtain higher educations in order to help themselves. Pete was also a leader in the effort to create a center for higher education in Dover-Foxcroft. He would have been overjoyed to hear of the Center's success and increased enrollment.

Pete held a variety of other jobs in public education including teacher, assistant principal, athletic director, and coach. He held a bachelors degree and two advanced degrees from the University of Maine. Pete was also chairman of the Guilford Planning Board, Library Trustee, and Past President of the Guilford Area Kiwanis.

Pete passed away in 2002 as a result of an accident in his home. However, we at the PCEDC will always remember Pete's contributions to the PCEDC as a notable Past President and active Executive Committee Member.
