MILO - An open house is scheduled for 3-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22, for Milo Family Practice, the first building in the new Eastern Piscataquis Industrial Park in Milo. The building will be open for tours by the public, although it will not be fully operational until after Thanksgiving. Flu shots will be available, light refreshments will be served, and Milo and Brownville police will provide children's fingerprinting services. The business park is located on Park Street (Route 11) and is being jointly developed by the towns of Milo and Brownville. The first building is being constructed by Mayo Regional Hospital of Dover-Foxcroft for Milo Family Practice, a primary care physician's office employing seven people. Site preparation began the week of Aug. 15 by the Sheridan Corporation of Fairfield, primary contractor for the project. Sheridan expects to finish the project on Nov. 18. The 5,200-square-foot building for Milo Family Practice is located on a 2.6-acre lot deeded to Mayo Regional Hospital by the Town of Milo. The estimated project cost is $657,000, not including expenditures for additional clinic equipment and furniture. Mayo has been approved by the Maine Municipal Bond Bank for a $600,000, 20-year loan to finance the bulk of construction costs, and will pay for the rest of the project with hospital operating income. Mayo opened Milo Family Practice in 1999 in an existing building on Park Street, but the practice now has nearly 2,000 patients and has completely outgrown its available space. The office is staffed by family practice physician Kathleen Thibault, D.O. and pediatrician Gretchen Huot, M.D. |
