PCEDC to Host Public Forum to Discuss New Brownfields Program
Monday, August 24, 2009
The PCEDC will be hosting a public informational meeting for its new Brownfields Assessment Program on Wednesday, September 2nd, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Penquis Higher Education Center (50 Mayo Street, Dover-Foxcroft).

The PCEDC was the recent recipient of a $200,000 grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to inventory, characterize, assess, and conduct planning and community involvement activities related to potential hazardous-waste impacted Brownfield sites in Piscataquis County. A Brownfield site is any property where the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of may be complicated by the presence, or potential presence of, a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant.

The goal of this public informational meeting is to educate interested individuals about the Brownfields program, to answer questions from community members, and to solicit sites that could potentially benefit from this program.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact PCEDC Executive Director Thomas Kittredge at tkittredge@pcedc.org or 1-800-539-0332. More information is available at the EPA’s Brownfields site at http://www.epa.gov/brownfields/index.html.
