Piscataquis County Soil & Water Conservation District.... a leader in agriculture, forestry and other natural resource education, providing assistance and coordination of resources and information to promote practices that maintain the County's way of life.

The Natural Resources Summer Camp is one of the many services provided by the PCSWCD

The Piscataquis County Soil & Water Conservation District is a non-profit, quasi-state agency run by an elected and appointed volunteer board of supervisors and two paid part-time staff. The District performs many varied natural resource functions.

*Bring together landowners with the technical expertise, funding and permitting sources they need to complete voluntary conservation work on their land.

*Partner with landowners, school districts, municipalities and others to complete large conservation projects (such as the early flood warning system on the Piscataquis River and the Dunham Davee watershed project).

*Run a two-week natural resources and agricultural tour summer camp for children age 7-14.

*Offer annual workshops, based on public demand, on topics that include vernal pools, farm ponds, lake quality, septic systems, gravel roads, wood duck boxes, medicinal mushrooms and more.

*Maintain a 180-acre Demonstration Forest open to the public in Williamsburg Plantation

*Partner with schools and home school associations on natural resource education programs and maintain a lending library for educators and the public.
