PCEDC Announces Donna Hathaway and James Macomber as 2026 Warren “Pete” Myrick Community Service Award Recipients
The Piscataquis County Economic Development Council (PCEDC) is pleased to announce Donna Hathaway and the late James “Jim” Macomber, both of Dover-Foxcroft, as the recipients of the 2026 Warren “Pete” Myrick Community Service Award.
Presented annually by PCEDC, the Myrick Award recognizes a Piscataquis County resident, business or organization that exemplifies an outstanding commitment to education, economic development and/or civic leadership in the region.
The award honors the legacy of Warren “Pete” Myrick, a Guilford resident and longtime educator in SAD #4 who was deeply committed to the people and communities of Piscataquis County. Myrick was one of the founders of PCEDC and served as the Council’s president in 2001 before his death in 2002. More…..

Donna and Jim represent community service in its truest sense. Neither sought recognition for what they did; they simply saw places where their knowledge, time and talents could make a difference and they stepped in, again and again.
PCEDC awarded $500,000 Brownfields Assessment Grant
Due to the success of our program, PCEDC was awarded a Brownfields Assessment grant in a competitive round of applications.

 Recreation based tourism is a huge part of our local economy. As such, we felt it was important to help support the marketing of these activities and are excited to be managing the grant and marketing plan for The Maine Highlands. The Maine Highlands is a regional destination marketing organization dedicated to promoting the natural beauty and diverse experiences of central and northern Maine. The organization is funded through a grant from the Maine Office of Tourism. Encompassing Penobscot and Piscataquis counties, the organization highlights attractions such as Mount Katahdin, Moosehead Lake, and the Penobscot River. With a focus on outdoor adventures, cultural heritage, and small-town charm, The Maine Highlands encourages visitors to explore hiking trails, waterways, and local festivals. The organization also offers a free Exploration Guide to assist in planning trips.
